The White Knights added more silverware to their illustrious trophy cabinet this past weekend when they were crowned the latest winners of the CAFCC.
Ahmed Hamdi's goal in the second leg of the final ensured that the tie ended 2-2, with the Egyptian giants capturing the title via the away goals rule.
Zamalek have now won the competition for the second time, and also at the expense of RS Berkane, having first achieved the feat against the same team in 2018/19.
According to El Watan, for winning the Confederation Cup, Zamalek are set to be rewarded with $2 million (R36.4 million) in prize money.
It seems the north African outfit already have plans for that money, however, with the same report claiming they have lodged an urgent request to CAF to be given the winnings as soon as possible.
It is believed the 14-time Egyptian champions owe a number of their former employees in unpaid wages, most notably their ex-head coach Jaime Pacheco, and in a bid to avoid yet another transfer ban, the club would like to settle their outstanding debts as quickly as they can.
