On Monday, rumours out of Romania suggested that former Barcelona and Villarreal defender Edgar Ie had his twin brother Edelino pretend to be him in official games.
It was reported that Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest became suspicious of the player they signed in January after he was believed to have refused to show the club his driver's licence.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club has since denied the story is true, and the Guinea-Bissau international himself has since discussed the bizarre reports in an interview with Jijantes.
"The news is fake. It doesn't exist," he said.
"I would never do something like that."
