Hotto Discusses Possibility Of Hanamub Move To Pirates

Orlando Pirates' versatile player Deon Hotto has discussed the possibility of compatriot Riaan Hanamub joining the Buccaneers next season, which would add competition for him to keep his place in the team.

Hotto and Hamanub, who were on opposite sides of the field as Pirates played host to AmaZulu over the weekend, play in the same position and it would make things quite interesting if the latter were to make a move up north of the country from KZN to play for the Soweto giants next season.

It's believed Hanamub, Usuthu's first choice left back, has an agreement to join Pirates next season, with sources suggesting that the 29-year-old will be on a three-year deal with the Soweto giants.

Hotto, 33, feels that it would be good to have Hanamub on board, not feeling threatened by the possibility of playing second fiddle to his Namibian national side teammate. In fact, Hotto feels that it could allow him to play in a more advanced position, a role he is more familiar with.

"For me, it's going to be healthy. If he comes, it's going to be good because he is also going to boost the team, with the quality he has. He is an international player and he has all the ingredients to play for a big club like Pirates," said Hotto, who has played every DStv Premiership match for the Buccaneers this season, to the Siya crew.

He added: "Competition is always there. Maybe if he comes, I will be shifted more to the front. We played together in the national team and we have a good understanding. He plays behind me, so our understanding is very healthy."

Hanamub has been one of AmaZulu's most consistent performers, playing 29 matches in all competitions so far this season, with one goal and three assists. Like Hotto, Hanamub loves getting forward to give his side more options in attack.
