When the South African tactician arrived in Cairo in 2020, he achieved instant success with the Club of the Century.
He first guided the team to CAF Champions League glory a month into his tenure, ending the club's seven-year wait for a continental triumph.
He would go on to add another five titles as well as accomplish back-to-back podium finishes at the FIFA Club World Cup before ultimately calling time on his stint in the Egyptian capital in 2022.
Despite all that he was able to accomplish in close to two years with Ahly, one of his former players does not think what he achieved was that impressive.
Egypt international Mahmoud Kahraba has claimed that the players at Mosimane's disposal at the time were the reason he was able to win all the trophies he did in north Africa, and that their current manager, Marcel Koller, is a better coach than the Abha Club boss.
"In Al Ahly, we are accustomed to winning championships, and the reason may be that we played in many final matches, and any new player integrates with the group and enters the same system," the 29-year-old said, as per Filgoal.
"Pitso Mosimane would have destroyed me, and the difference between him and Marcel Koller is very big.

"Mosimane did a lot for the club, but I think he had many good players and they were the ones who accomplished everything for the team."
