Kaizer Chiefs have stepped up their pursuit for a new head coach with interim mentor Cavin Johnson moving back to his original position at the academy.
Soccer Laduma revealed how Chiefs prefer a local option with Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi the preferred options, and that Brazil's Alexandre Gallo is their main foreign option.

Now, the Siya crew finds out who's Amakhosi's favourite option among the European coaches in their shortlist since Gallo is from South America.
Siya sources close to Chiefs have indicated that Spanish coach Raul Caneda Perez is the preferred European candidate.
Sources have added that the former Al Ittihad manager is highly rated at Naturena.
"They have shortlisted five coaches and two are from Europe and Caneda seems to be the favourite of the two European coaches right now. He has a very rich history and experience which suits a coach who can take on the responsibility of changing the fortunes at Chiefs at the moment," said the Siya source.
"The competition is tough among the five shortlisted but from the two European options he stands a better chance," the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second Siya source stated that his other advantage is that he is not attached to any club at the moment, contrary to what was initially indicated.
"All the other four shortlisted coaches are still contracted to other clubs though most of their contracts are expiring in June or at the end of their respective seasons so Raul (Caneda) has the upper hand because his first priority would be Kaizer Chiefs (in negotiations)."
Though, Amakhosi would only need to wait until the end of the season to easily negotiate with their other options.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for a comment but no response was received by the time this story was published.
