On Tuesday, a late Fagrie Lakay strike ensured that Pyramids went top of the Egyptian Premier League as the Jamie Pacheco-led side beat Ismaily 2-1 in Cairo to leapfrog the Red Devils in the table.
The Club of the Century would play later the same day and while a win would have ensured they returned to the summit of the log, Ahly were unable to find the back of the net as their match against Smouha ended 0-0.
El Watan Sports reports that, as a consequence of that result, the players will now be fined, with a dressing-down from head coach Marcel Koller also expected.
It is believed that each player who signs for the record African champions agrees to face penalties in the event of a loss or a draw.
It is perhaps not the best moment for Koller at the Cairo International Stadium right now, with inconsistent results having led to a disgruntled fanbase.
As per the same publication, after the Smouha match, the Swiss tactician clashed with fans and had to be pulled away from the argument by translator Khaled Jawadi.

It is further claimed that Ahly supporters group Ultras Ahlawy are still unhappy about losing the CAF Super Cup as well as the African Football League, and that club chiefs have urged Koller to focus on results to get fans back onside.
