Broos Announces Bafana Preliminary Squad

The latest Bafana Bafana preliminary squad has been announced by head coach Hugo Broos for their upcoming two matches.

Bafana are scheduled to play back-to-back friendly matches against Namibia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Broos has named a 32-member preliminary squad from which he will be selecting his final squad at a later stage.

"Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a 32-member preliminary squad for the international friendly matches against Namibia and DR Congo next month. Broos' charges host Namibia on 9 September 2023 (kick off is at 15h00) and DR Congo on 12 September in matches that are part of the coach's preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire in January next year, and for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November," SAFA confirmed on their official website.

"The venues of the two matches will be confirmed in the coming days. The preliminary squad will be trimmed to 23 players next week when Broos announces his final list for the two matches. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States of America. The World Cup qualifiers will start in November this year and wrap up in 2025. The Africa Cup of Nations will be held from 13 January to 11 February 2024," stated SAFA.
