The shotstopper returns to LALIGA five years after becoming the most expensive goalkeeper in history, and becomes the Spanish giants' first-choice shot-stopper for the 2023/24 campaign.

The Spain international's signing comes after Thibaut Courtois was confirmed to have suffered a anterior cruciate ligament injury last week, which will keep him out for close to nine months.
Consequently, Los Merengues have looked for somebody to deputise for the Belgian in his absence, and have decided on Kepa to fulfil that role.

The 28-year-old left the Spanish top flight in 2018 when he departed from Athletic Bilbao after the Blues paid the Basque side €80 million (R1.6 billion) for his signature, but after an erratic couple of years in the English capital, Arrizabalaga has seemingly taken his chance to reinvigorate his career by signing with the record European champions for the upcoming season.
