Why Mbappe Wants To Play For PSG Next Season 'Revealed'

Why Mbappe Wants To Play For PSG Next Season 'Revealed'

Despite stating his intention to not re-sign with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of next season, Kylian Mbappe still wishes to stay with the club in the 2023/24 campaign, and the reason why has reportedly been revealed.

The superstar Frenchman looks set to become the subject of yet another transfer saga after he announced that he will not be exercising his option of an extra year at the Parc des Princes.

The 24-year-old's current deal with PSG concludes after the forthcoming campaign draws to a close, but having stated that he will not extend his stay with the club beyond that, Les Parisiens have a difficult decision to make.

The record Ligue 1 champions can either try to sell their talisman in this transfer window or wait until the end of next season and let the Bondy native leave on a free transfer.

Either way, though, it appears that the French giants would need to compensate the pacey attacker with a hefty bonus.

According to Fichajes, an €80 million (R1.6 billion) loyalty bonus will be owed to the attacker should he stay at PSG beyond the end of this window, with this said to be the reason why the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is believed to wish to stay in Paris for one more season.

It is claimed PSG are avoiding making it publicly known that they wish to sell the prolific attacker because in doing that, they would be recognising an obligation to pay him a loyalty premium, and if the club were to transfer Mbappe, the player and his representatives could then sue the French side for that payment.

Similarly, it is said the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner does not want to initiate a move away from the French capital as PSG could use that as motivation not to pay the attacker his bonus.

The Ligue 1 club is, however, believed to want to orchestrate a renewal of the forward's deal in the meantime.
