According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi giants have reached a verbal agreement with the Blues for the sale of Senegal international Edouard Mendy.
The 31-year-old will reportedly sign a three-year contract with the Jeddah-based side as he puts an end to his European career, at least for the time being.
Al Ahli are set to return to the Saudi Pro League after Mosimane guided them to promotion this past season. However, the South African tactician's efforts were not enough for the Middle East outfit to want to keep the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly boss on board, and the two parties consequently parted ways earlier this month.
Now, with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund having a majority stake in Al Ahli, the team is ready to begin a mega spending spree by luring the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations winner to King Abdullah Sports City.
Mendy began his Chelsea career in remarkable fashion as he helped the west Londoners win their second UEFA Champions League title, as well as the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, within the first 18 months of his arrival at Stamford Bridge.
