The School of Excellence development product's progression from the Pirates DStv Diski Challenge team to the first team has been gradual.
However, in the singular appearance he has made, the 18-year-old has shown glimpses of his capabilities after being given a chance by Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro, which gives the impression that there is much more in store from the pint-sized playmaker. In matters off the field, the Siya crew understands that Ratomo, like a number of others before him, will be changing his surname and will be known as Relebohile Mofokeng from the 2023/24 season.
The crew understands that the Vaal-born star is officially registered as Mofokeng on his identity booklet; however, the changes could not be made at the time that Pirates registered him to the first team, which saw him use the Ratomo name this campaign.
Reaching out to the player's father Sechaba Mofokeng, himself a former player confirmed the imminent name change for the teenager.
"Relebohile was using his mom's surname. Unfortunately for us, the time we got married, he was already registered with Pirates. That's the situation," he told the Siya crew.
"So, after he registered with Pirates, three weeks after that, he changed his surname to Mofokeng, so his ID says Mofokeng since last year," he continued.
