On Monday, rumours suggested that the 35-year-old had informed Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal he would be willing to join them for the 2023/24 campaign.
This comes amid a turbulent time for the Argentine in France, with Messi recently suspended by Paris Saint-Germain for an unauthorised trip to the Middle Eastern country following his team's 3-1 defeat to Lorient at home in Ligue 1.
Fans in Paris have also held protests against the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, pleading for the club to part ways with the former Barcelona captain when his contract ends in June.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however, Messi has not yet agreed to sign for Al Hilal and is instead waiting for the end of the campaign before deciding his future.

It is believed to be true that Al Hilal have tabled an offer that would see him become the world's highest-paid player in history, a proposal that reportedly made its way to the player in April already.

Furthermore, Barcelona are continuing their push to reunite with Messi once his deal in France expires late next month, but striking an agreement will be complicated due to the clubs' continued economic struggles.
