The Portuguese tactician was not present on the touchline for his team's 1-0 Derby della Capitale defeat to their bitter rivals on Sunday due to suspension, but after watching the game from the team bus, Mourinho entered the locker room to find Gianluca Mancini and Lazio's Alessio Romagnoli in a scuffle, according to Forza Roma.
It is said that Eagles president Claudio Lotito tried to get the players to stop fighting but ended up in a row with Mourinho instead, with Roma director Tiago Pinto having to intervene and calm the pair down.
Chaos was the theme of the encounter as two first-half yellows saw Roger Ibanez receive his marching orders as Maurizio Sarri's Lazio climbed to second position in Serie A courtesy of a Mattia Zaccagni winner late in the second half.
However, more drama ensued after the final whistle had been blown by Davide Massa as Lazio's Adam Marusic and Roma star Bryan Cristante both saw red for their involvement in a fight that took place after.
