Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has issued a certain transfer request to the Reds after their elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

The struggling English giants crashed out of Europe this week after a 6-2 aggregate defeat to Real Madrid at the round of 16.
Fans and pundits alike believe Jurgen Klopp's side is in desperate need of reinforcements in multiple positions ahead of the 2023/24 season, a sentiment that has now been echoed by Dutch centre-back Van Dijk.
"We have to sign new players, if we want to be where we have been the last five years," he said, according to The Athletic journalist James Pearce.
"Obviously, players are going to leave.
"If we want to be at top level we need quality imports."
Midfielders such as James Milner and Jordan Henderson have been linked with departures, while Roberto Firmino has confirmed he will not be extending his contract at the club.
Centre-back Joel Matip is another whose future an the Anfield-based side is uncertain.
In terms of potential arrivals, Liverpool are known to be interested in England international Jude Bellingham, though doubts have been raised over their pursuit of the player due to the team's current form in the Premier League.
