A former Egyptian international has paid Mamelodi Sundowns a big compliment after seeing the South African giants dismantle his ex-rivals in the CAF Champions League.

The Red Devils suffered a significant defeat to Downs this past Saturday in Pretoria, leaving Marcel Koller's side needing two wins from their remaining two group games to stand a chance of qualifying for the quarter-final round.
Ahly would also then need Sundowns to avoid a loss in Sudan when they take on Al Hilal, a set of circumstances that ultimately means their fate is out of their own hands.
Ibrahim Salah, a 35-time Egypt international and former Zamalek star, believes Koller got his plan for the match all wrong before likening Downs' style of football to the kind one might see in Europe today.
"Marcel Koller should have played with a three-man midfield in front of Mamelodi Sundowns that consisted of Aliou Dieng, Amr El-Sulya, and Hamdy Fathi," he said, according to King Fut.
"Mamelodi Sundowns is a team that plays modern European football, so Koller shouldn't have played with this offensive way against them."
Al Ahly's next Champions League match will be against Coton Sport on Friday in what will be a must-win encounter.
