In a recent interview, club president Joan Laporta said he will look to extend the former midfielder's contract as head coach amid the team's impressive domestic form.
Xavi, however, appears more interested in results now than he does a new deal, saying on Tuesday that he is aiming to clinch silverware before tying himself down to new terms.
"Laporta's words took me by surprise. He is my friend," he said, according to Barca Universal.
"Barca is lucky to have a president like him. He's very reliable.
"But first the titles and then the renewal. It's not about money or years of contract, it's about wanting the club to do well."
The Spaniard then went on to state that he will walk away from his post the minute he feels he can no longer get his message across to his team.
"The day I feel I don't convince the players, I will go home, I will leave," he continued.
After being appointed Blaugrana manager in November 2021, Xavi has taken charge of 75 matches and won 48 of them.
