Nike has issued a new statement relating to their relationship with Manchester United star Mason Greenwood, whose deal as a brand ambassador was terminated following his arrest last year but saw his charges dropped this month.
Official: Greenwood Issues Statement After Charges Dropped
Since the Greater Manchester Police announced that the 21-year-old case had been discontinued, reports claimed the 21-year-old was set to be taken back by the popular sports brand.
After he was arrested in January last year, Greenwood was dropped by Nike but appeared hopeful of reuniting with his former sponsor after it was claimed that he readded the company's name to his Instagram bio.
According to the Mirror, however, Nike has reiterated their stance that "Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete".
The forward is still believed to be suspended by United despite his charges of rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and abuse being dropped, with the club having launched an internal investigation.
Greenwood is under contract at the Red Devils until 2025, but has not played or trained since being taken into custody in January of 2022.
