Ex-Wife Comes Out In Support Of Arrested Alves

Ex-Wife Comes Out In Support Of Arrested Alves

Following the arrest of former Barcelona right-back Dani Alves last week, his ex-wife has come out in support of the world's most decorated footballer, who has been accused of sexual assault.

Xavi Apologises After Dani Alves Arrest Comments

Last week Friday, the 40-year-old Brazil legend was taken into custody after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona towards the end of last year.

Alves strongly denied the allegations levelled at him in a public interview after reportedly being advised to share his version of events by people close to him.

His ex-wife, Dana Dinorah, has since stated that the former Sevilla fullback would "never, ever, ever do this", despite reports suggesting his arrest has come as a result of the evidence collected by the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police).

"I have not had access to him. I know he is sad, but he is fine and I will do whatever it takes to help him. It is a shock and for my children, who are teenagers, and they are having a very bad time," she said, as per Marca.

"His family is overwhelmed because they want to see him and they can't access him. His lawyer tells me he's working on the case.

"Dani would never, ever, ever do this. Never. I'm telling you because I've known him for 22 years and I've been married to him for 10. It seems like it's a nightmare and that it's not [really] happening."

It is said that Alves is being held in jail due to the judge believing he was a flight risk considering his financial position.
