Reports claim that France superstar Kylian Mbappe is on the verge of being sanctioned by FIFA after his actions towards the media at the World Cup.
Belgium Star Hits Back At De Bruyne And Hazard With 'Too Old' Comment
Mbappe continues to light up the global showpiece, with the 23-year-old taking his tournament tally to three goals in two matches against Denmark on Saturday night.
The Paris Saint-Germain star scored either side of an Andreas Christensen header to secure the reigning champions' passage to the round of 16, but it now seems FIFA could dampen the forward's campaign.
After the attacker's Man of the Match performance against the Scandinavians, Mbappe refused to stop and speak to the media. This was the second time in this tournament the Paris native had ignored members of the media, having not spoken to them after France's opening win against Australia too.
According to the Daily Mirror, because of Mbappe's actions, the French Football Federation (FFF) are set to be hit with a fine. FIFA had warned the FFF that if the PSG man failed to complete his media obligations again after the Australia game, they would be sanctioned with a financial penalty.
Cameroon Star Removed From Squad After Fallout With Head Coach
The reason for Mbappe's media unavailability is said to be because the former AS Monaco man is avoiding questions about his future at the Parc des Princes.
He has been the subject of much speculation in recent months after it was rumoured that he wants to leave the record Ligue 1 champions.
The same report suggests that the striker's sole focus currently is the World Cup and does not want any distractions, and it is understood that the FFF and Mbappe will share the fine.
