Members of the media have run out of superlatives to describe the type of season Haaland has had so far with Citizens.
The Norwegian has had scintillating start to the 2022/23 campaign, finding the back of the net in all but two games to date and netting 14 goals in 10 matches for the reigning champions of England as he looks on course to smash a plethora of records, barring any long-term lay-offs.
It was City who came out on top of Haaland's wish list when deciding who to join towards the end of last season, and speaking in the documentary Haaland – The Big Decision, the Leeds-born forward explained why the Citizens were his club of choice when he decided to call time on his Borussia Dortmund career.
"It's the best sporting project in the football world right now... it's where I think I'll do the best," the striker says in the documentary, as per The Times.
"After City-BVB in 2021, almost 15 people said I should come. [John] Stones, [Ruben] Dias, [Phil] Foden, [Kevin] De Bruyne…"
In the same film, it is revealed that Haaland and his father, Alfe-Inge, devised a system to show the clubs best suited to the young star, and City were at the top of that list ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

"On our list, I think City is the best team," his father says in the documentary.
"[Bayern] Munich is number two. We have Real Madrid as number three, Paris Saint-Germain as number four.
"We also have some English teams other than City who are quite good. Liverpool and Chelsea. Also, there is Barcelona. They are sort of in the same row."
