Zwane To Flex Chiefs' Depth In Macufe Cup?

Zwane To Flex Chiefs' Depth In Macufe Cup?

Unlike other teams across the globe, Kaizer Chiefs will not be off during the FIFA break as the club gears up for the return of the Macufe Cup.

Chiefs will renew their rivalry against Royal AM in a one-day tournament on Saturday.

Amakhosi usually clashed with Bloemfontein Celtic but will face Thwihli Thwahla for the first time in this high-profile friendly after AM bought the Premiership status of Siwelele.

The Glamour Boys head coach Arthur Zwane says they will use the magnitude of the tournament will help the side prepare for the MTN8 semi-final first-leg against AmaZulu.

"It's a privilege for us to have these types of games. They might be 'practice matches' but they are still games that are going to be watched on TV and by people coming to the stadium so it will help the players perform at their utmost best and, for us, to get the combinations right in preparation for our nest game against AmaZulu in the MTN8," Zwane told the club's media.

'10111' also revealed that he will use the opportunity to fine-tune their combinations and give other players a chance to gain match fitness.

"We need the game because we want to improve on certain aspects of our game," he went on.

"We want to get our chemistry right and also give some other players a chance to play because we want to keep everyone at the same level of fitness," he added.

Soccer Laduma looks at Chiefs players who could get game-time against Thwihli Thwahla.

Eric Mathoho: He has been coming off the bench towards the end of the games lately and with Zitha Kwinika having played all the games so far, will be be rested?

Thabani Dube: Zwane showed he's not afraid to try out new combinations after giving Edmilson Dove his first start against SuperSport. As a second left-footed centre-back, will Dube get a look in?

Siyabonga Ngezana: He has not played since being dropped after a loss against Cape Town City. Will he be given another chance?

Cole Alexander: With only two starts and two substitute appearances so far in all competitions, he may be looking for an opportunity, should Zwane decide to rest either or both of Siyethemba Sithebe and Yusuf Maart.
