With reports suggesting Bayern Munich are interested in signing Harry Kane, one of the club's chiefs has responded to rumours linking the Bavarians with the English forward.
Tuchel Breaks Silence After Chelsea Sack
During the off-season, the Bundesliga champions unwillingly sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, effectively leaving them without a world-class out-and-out striker going into the 2022/23 season.
As a result, there have been rumours the German outfit is looking to replace the Pole with England's Harry Kane in the near future.
The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his current deal with Tottenham Hotspur, and with the striker having come close to leaving for Manchester City at the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign, it seemed the record Bundesliga winners were willing to test the Lilywhites' resolve for their star player.
However, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has now poured cold water on the rumours, saying no contact has been made by the club for the striker's services.
"I haven't spoken to anyone at Harry Kane's camp," he told Sport1 when addressing the links.
"We have faith in our players. Serge [Gnabry], Sadio [Mane], [Eric Maxim] Choupu-Moting and also [Mathys] Tel. These are guys who should grow into it. We have eight players for four positions.
"In the end, you have to see what the market has to offer, and we didn't find anyone is better than what was already in our squad."
Ancelotti Reacts To Real Star's Touchline Tantrum
Spurs seem to have elevated their play under Antonio Conte, and after securing UEFA Champions League qualification for the first time in three years, the likes of Kane, who has has already found the back of the net five times in six league matches in this campaign, will be happy to have the Italian tactician on board.
Whether Conte's presence is enough for the striker to sign an extension with the north Londoners and commit his long-term future to the Lilywhites remains to be seen, though.
