The window closed with a bang for Manchester United as they bagged the most expensive player in Brazilian winger Antony. The 22-year-old followed Erik ten Hag and Lisandro Martinez from Ajax Amsterdam to England, and will now showcase his talents at the Theatre of Dreams.
The Red Devils paid the Dutch side €95 million (R1.6 billion) for the Rio de Janeiro native, who is now the club's second-most expensive player ever.
Another forward who cost big money in the window went to the blue half of Manchester instead. Erling Haaland arrived from Borussia Dortmund at a fee of €60 million (R1 billion) and has hit the ground running under Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City are second in the 2022/23 Premier League standings largely thanks to Haaland, with the Norwegian marksman having found the back of the net nine times in five league games, a new competition record.

While Haaland left the Bundesliga, another star, Matthijs de Ligt, made his way to the German top flight.
The Dutch centre-back is the only player among the 10 most expensive transfers who joined a German team, with Bayern Munich paying Juventus €67 million (R1.1 billion) for De Ligt's signature, making him the second-most expensive player in the Bavarians' history.
The 23-year-old, who is the seventh-most expensive player of the window, will be helping Bayern try to win an unprecedented 11th league title this season.
