Word reaching the Siya crew is that SAFA is looking into the issue of Teboho Mokoena's suspension internally, with leadership understood to be unhappy with the whole situation.
It emerged earlier this week that Bafana Bafana midfielder Mokoena was meant to serve a one match suspension after receiving two yellow cards in separate 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, on matchday one and four.

This meant that he was ineligible to play for the national team in the 2-0 victory over Lesotho last Friday, a decision that could come back to bite the national team if they are found guilty.
It's understood that Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is not pleased with the situation, as the technical team should have been informed to avoid fielding the Mamelodi Sundowns player. Mokoena was later left out when the team took on Benin.
Broos refused to comment on the matter when asked by a journalist after Bafana's victory over Benin on Tuesday night, but word reaching the Siya crew is that he is not pleased that the team could be affected by something that could have easily been avoided.

Indications are that SAFA were waiting for president Danny Jordaan to return with the team from Ivory Coast, where they played Benin, to start discussing the matter and see where they missed it all.
It's unclear at this stage if SAFA will release a statement on the issue to explain what happened in them not picking up that Mokoena was due to serve suspension.
