In This Week’s Edition Of Soccer Laduma

In anticipation of this week's 1410th edition of Soccer Laduma, we preview some of the features included. The latest edition will be available at your nearest outlet on Thursday, 5th February 2025.

PATRICK MASWANGANYI

The 'Panenka' is a special type of penalty. When it's successful, it's a beauty to watch, but it can be quite embarrassing if it does not work out. Orlando Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi stole the spotlight in one of the finest moments in Soweto Derby history when he cheekily chipped the ball from 12 yards out to seal a crucial victory for the Buccaneers, who are chasing the Betway Premiership title. But people who have kept up with Tito from his days in Tembisa will tell you that this is nothing new. SuperSport TV commentator Arnold Rankoko has been with Maswanganyi since his teenage years and, in this interview with Soccer Laduma, talks about the inspiring journey of the midfielder and why he is able to deal with pressure so well.

SIYA SPECIAL

Kaizer Chiefs maintain full support for their coach, Nasreddine Nabi, to lead the team despite inconsistent results. So far this season, the Tunisian mentor has managed to keep Amakhosi in the top half of the Betway Premiership standings, after the club finished in a disappointing 10th position last season. Chiefs are also in the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup, and Nabi will be hoping for a better performance after an early exit in the Carling Knockout Cup earlier in the campaign. Nabi lost his first Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates last weekend, but according to our sources, it doesn't seem to have affected his relationship with the club as the Siya crew uncovers in this investigation.

TEBOHO MOKOENA

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena has been a key member of the team since joining from SuperSport United in 2022. After helping Bafana Bafana secure the bronze medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire, Mokoena was linked with a move away from Chloorkop. But he ultimately signed a new five-year contract that will run until 2029. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, Mokoena discusses his journey with both the club and the national team. The 28-year-old also discusses the challenge of losing his place in Sundowns' starting line-up and explains how that period on the sidelines ultimately strengthened his game.

Also In Issue 1410…

Bernard Parker

It's been a few months since Bernard Parker retired from football after spending two seasons with TS Galaxy. The former striker rose to prominence with Benoni Premier United before the club was sold and renamed Thanda Royal Zulu. However, it was his time with Kaizer Chiefs, between 2011 and 2022, where he became a household name in South African football. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, 'Die Hond' shares his thoughts on the rising pressure on Chiefs' young talents, like Wandile Duba, as they step into the spotlight, and also offers his opinion on the club's recent signings.

International Feature

Pitso Mosimane's tenure at Esteghlal FC has come to an abrupt and controversial end, with the South African tactician terminating his contract over unpaid wages. His exit, however, has been met with conflicting narratives, a fabricated interview, and a club seemingly desperate to salvage its reputation.

Revolving Column

This week we hear from former striker Lebohang Mokoena on the upcoming match between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Siyagobhoza

In this week's edition of the popular Siyagobhoza section, there is news on Orlando Pirates opening talks over Evidence Makgopa's contract, Mamelodi Sundowns still open to Peter Shalulile offers, and Kaizer Chiefs to pay the majority of Christian Saile's package.
