Despite having a number of new players at the club since July last year, Swallows have been unable to register any of the players, owing to their transfer ban handed down by FIFA.
Swallows were slapped with a three-registration window ban after the club were charged with terminating the contracts of Serbian Obren Cuckovic and Slovenian Vladimir Mandic in 2015.
As a result, the likes of Akpeyi, Daniel Gozar, Ally Msengi and David Ulomi have all been made to wait even longer while Swallows look to sort out the matter. The quartet have been training with the club for the last five months, having first started training in July this year, although there is no clarity on whether or not they will be signed.
"Swallows' situation is simple, they either have to pay the money owed to the two players or convince those who are yet to be registered by the club to wait until next year, which is not ideal because as a player, you don't want to be out of action for a year just training," a source informed the Siya crew.
The Birds will be hoping to change their fortunes on the field when the DStv Premier League resumes later this month, with their first test against high-flying Richards Bay. They currently sit in 14th position on the standings after 12 matches played.
