Akpeyi And Others To Flock To Birds’ Nest After FIFA Lifts Ban

Akpeyi And Others To Flock To Birds’ Nest After FIFA Lifts Ban

Evans Rusike became Swallows' first official signing after their FIFA ban was officially lifted and now coach Ernst Middendorp has confirmed that he expects more players to flock to the Birds' nest before the transfer window slams shut.

With the nightmare finally over for Swallows, the Birds will turn their attention to improving their log standings and move away from the relegation battle.

Swallows currently linger in 15th position just three points ahead of bottom-placed Marumo Gallants, although the Birds do have two games in hand. With the transfer window set to slam shut on Wednesday 31 January, Swallows are set to make the most of what's left of the transfer window.

"I think it's a huge compliment towards the management and towards David (Mogashoa) who is in charge to make it happen at the end of the day, it's a huge achievement for the club to find a solution in this direction. And when I started on the 19th of December there was no promise. This was very clear. I took this challenge. I said, 'OK, good what we have available, what is there.' [I] tried to find some young guys.

"I saw already in the training session during the afternoon, during the week on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon I go there myself to the training session. I saw some guys definitely. They are also not registered three or four, I think I'm not quite sure, but they will be registered on Monday or Tuesday. Probably one or two can help us a little bit more. There will be progress with the development," Middendorp told journalists after their goalless draw with SuperSport United.

"Evans Rusike was easy with one or two target on our side from outside. Of course, you need an international transfer certification and that is not possible. We got more than this. The information some minutes past three on Friday afternoon and that we made it, at least with Evans. I think it's good and good. We have two days' time Monday, Tuesday to see and hopefully we can sort some stuff out," he continued.

As first reported by the Siya crew,Daniel Akpeyi, Ally Msengi and Daniel Gozar are amongst the players expected to sign for Swallows.
