While he has spent years plotting their downfall as a player, Daine Klate has come out in defence of Mamelodi Sundowns, who have been accused of 'killing' the DStv Premiership.

A number of coaches and notable personalities in the local fraternity have questioned Sundowns' spending and accused the Brazilians of creating a monopoly by signing the best players in the PSL.
Two weeks ago, Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter questioned Downs' spending habits and more recently Jabu Mahlangu weighed in, suggesting that Financial Fair Play [FFP] should be implemented in the league to curb the Brazilians' financial muscle.
However, the country's most decorated player Daine Klate has weighed in on the matter.
According to the 39-year-old, the problem in the league lies not with Sundowns' spending, but with the rest of the clubs' inability to replicate what the Chloorkop outfit are doing.
"I think let's leave Sundowns and start talking about what the rest must do to get to that level!!!! Some don't have training facilities how will success arrive?
"I think the rest just needs to catch up with Sundowns, if they don't then Sundowns must win every season. The work and process they followed over the years took a lot of time!!! So, credit for all the investing and the success is well deserved!!" he tweeted.

Sundowns are on course to lift their sixth successive league title, with an impressive 16-point gap over their closest competitors Richards Bay with 18 matches played.
