Bafana Bafana recorded a 2-1 win over Benin in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Goals from Percy Tau and Khuliso Mudau were enough to give Hugo Broos' men all three points, with the victory propelled South Africa to the top of the Group C standings.
Bafana Bafana's next match is away from home against Rwanda on Tuesday in Butare, hoping to strengthen their lead at the top of the qualifying group.

"What a performance by South Africa. I think if we keep playing like this, we will be untouchable," says zuma.jz32.
"Thanks to the Sundowns players," says Dominate-downs.
"What about Downs players? We have failed countless times to qualify for both AFCON and the World Cup in the presence of Sundowns players. The 2022 World Cup finals, we were denied qualification by a Sundowns player, De Reuck who handled the ball inside the box and Ghana scored from that penalty.
"All the hopes of qualifying were dashed by Sundowns . The 1996 AFCON was Chiefs, Pirates and Cosmos who won it for us," says oupa.phiri27.
"It was only Benin. There's still a long way to go," says @Terry2007.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies were crowned the 2023 CAF Women's Champions League winners after a 3-0 win over Moroccan side Sporting Casablanca in the final at Stade Amadou Gon Coulibaly in the Ivory Coast on Sunday evening.
A brace from Refilwe Tholakele and a Boitumelo Rabale strike ensured that the Hollywoodbets Super League champions are continental winners again, making it two titles in three years following the same feat in the inaugural event in 2021.
Jerry Tshabalala's Sundowns also finished the tournament with a perfect defensive record having not conceded at all in all their five encounters and that resulting in Banyana shot-stopper Andile Dlamini being Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
