Despite the attention and hype being on the upcoming Soweto Derby, Mamelodi Sundowns supporters hold the bragging rights as they are still leading the Absa Premiership title race.
Supporters Club caught up with one of its members and Masandawana fan, Shawn, who stressed his concerns about his team's sudden inconsistency as the season approaches its final days.
SC: Ola, Sandawana! The Soweto Derby is in full swing and most people seem to have forgotten about your team being on top of the log. Thoughts?
Shawn: Yes, we are still on top but honestly speaking, it is not a comfortable lead. It's actually nerve-wrecking! With the way we have been playing recently, we've made it easy for Chiefs and Pirates to play catch-up and that remains a huge concern. Look at Pirates, they are playing attractive football these days. Their attack is on point and that is very commendable. The problem with Sundowns is that we are more focused on other teams than ourselves. Coach Pitso often talks about the Soweto Derby ending in a stalemate. What is that? We can't rely on the fact that Amakhosi and Bucs are going to play to a draw. We need to play convincingly and win matches so we can extend our lead at the top. We have the best squad in the PSL, from the bench to the field. PSL teams should be jealous of Sundowns, honestly.
Do you think Downs will extend their lead at the top of the log against AmaZulu on Friday?
