On Monday evening, the South African football fraternity was saddened by the news of the passing of Polokwane City defender, Mogau Tshehla. The 26-year old lost his young life in a car accident.
Tshehla's last game was last week Wednesday against Ubuntu Cape Town in their Nedbank Cup fixture where Rise and Shine lost and saw themselves being dumped out of the competition.
Whenever death decides that 90 minutes for a player is up, it is up, we are not given the opportunity to decide whether our players should play extra time or have the golden rule applied.
That way we have a chance for substitution, so the target soul is spared and everyone is safe or even better, to end the match at that right moment. Death chooses to rob us because it does not abide by FIFA rules and always refuses to play fair.
The sad part is, we can't appeal to the desired results, which is bringing back the departed. It can never be achieved.
When death blows its final whistle, it is game over and there's nothing we can do!
Rest In Peace, Gau-gau
