Mamelodi Sundowns have reached the final of the inaugural African Football League, playing out a 0-0 draw against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in front of a hostile crowd at the Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Downs won the first leg 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld, meaning Wednesday's goalless draw sees them through to the final on aggregrate — where they will meet Moroccan outfit Wydad Athletic, who narrowly knocked them out of last season's CAF Champions League.
Ronwen Williams was the hero on the night as he stepping up to save a penalty in the 16th minute from Ali Maloul after fouling Bafana Bafana teammate Percy Tau.
Downs lived dangerously in the last few minutes of the game as Junior Mendieta was sent off for a dangerous challenge.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Sundowns Through To AFL Final, Opponents Confirmed!" story:
"Wola Masandawana, well done and all the best in the final. Once always," says oupa.phiri.
"I wonder how the other football clubs in the PSL are feeling right now that we're in the final? South Africa only had one team in this tournament, why??? Egyptians didn't ask why Zamalek is not there, Moroccans didn't ask why is Raja Casablanca is not there.." says Yellow dawana.
"AFL not CAF," says Soccer Fanatic.
"Sundowns is the only team that did not concede a goal in this tournament," says bhekilekhuleni6.
"Just by reaching the AFL final, Sundowns stands to pocket R57m, R17m richer than any other PSL team that can win all of South Africa's trophies combined," says makausemakause53.
"They are also the only team signing an ordinary player for R51million. The logic?? Buying popularity since some of the expenditures are tax related," says Soccer Fanatic.
"I love the way Sundowns loves me!" says zwelid.nkosi.
"Well done Masandawana. Wydad remember what you did last year, it is pay back time now. This inaugural AFL trophy is for the yellow nation," says sikhumbuzondl.
"Our players must remain focused and stop panicking in finals. Again, ruthlessness is key unlike missing chances and ruing them when you lose," says pgyakeni.
"Thank you Masadawana," says sakhilem009.
"Congratulations to the yellow nation. Make us proud, show Africa that we have the best league," says Ghost1.
"Yellow Nation through to the final," says lawrencemulangaphuma.
"If he's being for real, Broos can be man enough and take 80% of Downs' players to the AFCON. We can perform much better, rather than him pleasing those who cry for their players to get a call up. Even when they see it, clearly, that their players lack qualities to play for the national team.
"Downs' players are well managed to play under any condition. Whether people like it or not, no team can match Downs in the PSL," says Cutter.
"As a chiefs supporter, I totally agree with you," replies user451078.

Striker Evidence Makgopa pulled a goal back for Bucs two minutes before the break, but Spurs managed to hold on for a long overdue victory.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "Bucs Extend Winless Streak, CT Spurs Get First Win" story:
"Kimvudi must learn that fancy touches and being stylish on the ball doesn't translate into being a good player. It looks like he plays for fans.
"Attacking players score or create goal. He plays street football," says maxncane.
"Kimvuidi must learn to release the ball early. Erasmus was erratic too. Makgopa missed a sitter but made up for it later. Next time the coach should start with those he brought from the bench, I think Mako must come back too. Melusi was not convincing for me, the coach should start with Ofori," says user949915.
