Bhasera Plans For Life After Football

Bhasera Plans For Life After Football

Veteran defender and captain of SuperSport United, Onismor Bhasera, looks set to take a new direction in his football, as he approaches the twilight of his career.

The 37-year-old Zimbabwean international joined Matsatsantsa a Pitori in 2016 from the now defunct Bidvest Wits on an initial three-year contract and in 2019 renewed for another three years before adding another year, which will see his contract end in June this year.

The technical team and management have agreed that with Bhasera's playing days coming to an end, he needs to give back to the team and will be given an opportunity to coach within the youth structures at the club.

"They want him to do his coaching badges first and from there they will integrate him into the youth coaching system, just like they did with Andre Arendse, Ricardo Katza and Thabo September. They value his contribution to the team and don't want to see his valued experience go to waste," a source revealed to the Siya crew.

Asked for comment on the issue, SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews confirmed that the club wants to upskill Bhasera in coaching as they have done with other players before.

"Yes, there will be upskilling of his coaching courses as we have done with other players before in the past. You know he is a great player and good human. He looks after his body and lives a clean life. He represents everything that we as a club look for in a human being and a footballer. So as a club, we don't toast away such a loyal person at a time when loyalty means nothing. We will keep him in the system," Matthews confirmed.
