Matthews Reveals Grobler Plans With Contract Expiring

Matthews Reveals Grobler Plans With Contract Expiring

SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has revealed the plans they have for Bradley Grobler, with the player's contract set to expire in June.

The 35-year-old Grobler has been with SuperSport since 2013 and has gone on to become the club's all-time top scorer. With a few months left on his deal with the Tshwane outfit, Matthews has confirmed to the Siya crew that the club looks to keep the experienced campaigner for another season, but are also going to help him get his coaching badges, if it's something the player is interested in.

"First of all, Bradley is a legend in the football club. He is the highest goalscorer we have ever had and he is coming to a 100 goals now, which I hope he will get. I would love nothing more than for Bradley to achieve that. I think he is one of the unsung heroes in South African football. I think if he played for the Big Three, he would have been hailed all over the place," Matthews told the Siya crew.

"Bradley has got one more move left, that's it. He knows it. It's the way it is. We want to keep him. We want to try to extend him for another year and have a vision for him for post football. But at the same time, when a player has a chance to make lots of money... we would definitely not stand in Bradley's way if a big offer were to come his way that we can't match. We are going to try to see if we can find some middle ground with his agent and we will take it from there.

"Irrespectively, we have committed to upskill Bradley in his coaching, whether he stays with us or not. I made the same deal with Yeye (Reneilwe Letsholonyane), which we honoured. It's the same deal I have made with Bash (Onismor Bhasera), which we will honour."
