So much has been said about Campbell's breakthrough season in the top flight.
It was just last season when he was setting the scene alight in the DStv Diski Challenge and now he has shown that he can replicate those performances in the elite league.
Lakay has expressed his excitement with the teenage superstar - but has also guarded against getting carried away by the expectations that is currently surrounding him, like many others before him.
"I'm one that always teases him and one that is always on his case you know, I was also asked a question about the competition. I believe competition brings out the best in you. So when you play on the same position it's more about helping each other than competing and fighting you. I had that wherever I went, I had good relations with the people that played on the same position as me. I can mention at Sundowns with Aubrey [Modiba], all the years it was [Tebogo] Langerman as well, [I had a] top relationship with him. When I went to City, there was Mark Van Heerden, same thing," he told the Siya crew.
"With Shandre it's the same but because he is younger, the relationship is different. I'm always on his case and I would tease him also but at the end of the day, he understands the relationship because there would be times where I can see his head is down and I want to help him. But you know, without me even having to say it, I think there is also on the field speaks for itself. I just open you can ask him what should I speak to him about it.
"I tell him that he must stay grounded because it's easy to get lost in today's world and in today's football because I mean there are players that got lost along the way I saw in the papers that Phakamani [Mahlambi] is without a team one of the best and he was my teammate, I played with him and look at his age now. He can still come back, he's not on the other side of 30 so he can still come back but look how easy it is to get lost.
"I just hope he stays grounded. I know he has his parents by his side. But he's good I can tell you and to be honest, if he stays grounded and obviously do what he needs to do, put in the extra work, it won't be long before we see him overseas," he said.
