SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has described the PSL as the most "bizarre league" he has seen in the past 50 years.
Addressing the media during the Carling Knockout press conference in Bryanston, Johannesburg, Hunt criticised the league's fixture structure, stating that it does not benefit the teams.
Hunt then emphasized the need for improvements in the league.

"It is very difficult to gauge where you are as a team in the league because of the way we are playing. Look, after playing in June we started the league late and after a few weeks then we had to rest. This is the most bizarre league that I have ever seen in maybe the last 50 years," Hunt told the media.
"See now, we are coming from a three week break and the first game we have is a cup game. How does that happen? This is not helping us at all. The setup is not good for the teams," Hunt told journalists.
Hunt also pointed out that the current structure favours clubs participating in the Champions League, as they play regularly.

"For us it doesn't really help with these breaks in the season unless you are taking part in the Champions League but for other teams it's really not a good league and this season it's even worse because we started late and then we had to go on a break. That makes it very hard to build a consistent team, mainly for clubs like us," Hunt observed.
SuperSport United will host Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday night in the Carling Knockout round of 16 at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
As the season progresses, it remains to be seen whether the PSL will address these structural issues, according to Hunt, to create a more consistent and competitive environment for all teams. For now, clubs like SuperSport must navigate the challenges posed by the current setup and strive for success despite the obstacles.
