SuperSport United assistant coach Andre Arendse has explained the role Vincent Pule was given against his former side Orlando Pirates.
The Pretoria outfit were dumped out of the MTN8 in the first round after losing 3-1 to the Buccaneers on Saturday evening.
Arendse was on duty for the media after head coach Gavin Hunt was sent off.

Hunt was given his marching orders after Pirates' third goal in extra-time, as the visitors felt there was an offside.
When asked if they planned to play Pule central, Arendse responded "Not initially.
"We wanted to play him as one of the front three in a wide area, then we made a couple of changes and he ended up playing more centrally.
"Because we felt Bradley when he was on the pitch, needed someone to work around him and he did that well.
"He understands what we want, he has worked with Gavin and I before, he was really good."
Arendse also lauded Ricardo Goss' display and says they are expecting him to take it to another level this season.

"Man of the Match performance and yet he concedes three goals. But I think Ricardo needs to go to the next level of his game, we told him that," he added.
"Already in the first game of the season he's showing that. He's got more capabilities ahead of him," Arendse added
