To say bringing Rayners back to Stellies would be an understatement. The Cape outfit was a side desperately in need of goals, while Rayners was a player in need of love to get back to his goalscoring best.
A marriage of convenience.
With no signs of slowing down, his coach Barker has revealed how he has managed to get the best out of the 27-year-old.
"Iqraam is a very underrated goalscorer. He showed for us when he helped us get promoted in our first season that he is very comfortable in front of goal and we are just playing him in a position where he gets the most opportunities, because we know when he gets opportunities he'll take them," he told journalists at the Nedbank Cup draw in Randburg.
"Currently, he's almost one goal every two games for us, in just the short stint that he's been with us, eight goals and two assists. If you add the goals and the assists that he's had from SuperSport, he's probably one of the leading players in goal involvements for the season.
"He's a quality footballer, a goalscorer. He's come back very mature in terms of his football. He's improved, his touch is a lot better, his calmness is even better and as a person he's come back very bubbly and positive, he's in a good space.
"It's just giving him a bit of love, playing to his strengths and hopefully it continues to go on that way," he continued.
