Junior Mendieta joined Sinethemba Mngomezulu in the attack, with the former eager to add his three goals for the campaign while Bafana Bafana international Sibongiseni Mthethwa continued in midfield.

The Team of Choice came into the fixture unbeaten against Stellies in their last four matches, with the Western Cape outfit yet to taste victory in this fixture since promotion to the top-flight in 2019.

The home side got the breakthrough on 23 minutes when Thabo Moloisane deflected the ball into his own net while trying to clear a cross at the near post.

While Stellies looked more enticing as the half went on, John Maduka's side struggled to fashion any clear-cut chances to trouble goalkeeper Sage Stephens.

Steve Barker's side would go on to secure the second goal two minutes before the hour mark, with the young Antonio van Wyk grabbing his second goal of the campaign.

Stellenbosch's dominance continued as Mngomezulu added his name to the scoresheet in the 65th minute with his third goal of the campaign after being set up by Van Wyk.

The Team of Choice were unable to claw their way back into the contest, as they suffered a fourth loss of the season and have slipped to 15th position.
