Marumo Gallants will be desperate to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat in the DStv Premiership when they travel to Stellenbosch on Wednesday evening.

Despite qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages before the FIFA World Cup break, Gallants have struggled in the domestic league.

Dan Malesela's charges have re-opened their league campaign on a terrible streak of three successive losses, the last of which was against Maritzburg United, a narrow 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

The Limpopo side, as a result, find themselves at the base of the table with 13 points and need to win by at least a two-goal margin to get out of the relegation zone.

On the other hand, Stellies are not too different, as they are winless since the restart. A goalless draw against TS Galaxy on Sunday stretched their run without a win to six matches.

Steve Barker's men are precariously lying 13th on the table with 16 points, just two points above the danger zone.

Gallants shaded the two contests between the sides last season with a 1-0 win in the first round as the reverse encounter ended goalless.
