Al Ahly, meanwhile, also had a perfect in their opening game in the group after thrashing Stade d'Abidjan 4-2 courtesy of a brace by Kahraba and a goal apiece from Mohamed Magdi Kafsha and Hussein El Shahat.
The Red Devils were in league action afterwards on Sunday after playing to a goalless draw against National Bank of Egypt and Marcel Koller's charges dropped down to third on the table, two points behind surprise leaders Al Masry, after four rounds of matches.
The last time the sides met was in 2015, where Pirates beat the Egyptian giants 5-3 on aggregate in the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals.
