Sundowns had a slow start in Group B after a goalless draw against Maniema Union two weeks ago at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
After a Carling Knockout final defeat to Magesi, Masandawana eventually redeemed themselves with a 3-0 victory over Sekhukhune United, after an own goal by Tresor Yamba and a goal apiece from Arthur Sales and Iqraam Rayners.
Manqoba Mngqithi's charges topped the Betway Premiership standings on goal difference as a result.
AS FAR, on the other hand, had a perfect start in the group after beating local rivals Raja Casablanca 2-0 a fortnight ago.
The Moroccan outfit were in league action last Saturday as they thrashed JS Soualem 3-0 and moved up to second in the Botola Pro standings, seven points behind leaders RSB Berkane.
The Militarians lead the mini log by three points, two points ahead of Sundowns and Maniema Union.
