Cardoso had a winning start in charge of Sundowns, after a narrow 1-0 win over Raja Casablanca courtesy of a goal by Iqraam Rayners on Sunday.
The Brazilians were last in league action almost three weeks ago after they thrashed Sekhukhune United 3-0.
Masandawana returned to the top of the standings, with a superior goal difference over second-placed Orlando Pirates.
Sundowns will be without Teboho Mokoena due to suspension after an accumulation of yellow cards.
Stellenbosch, meanwhile, have also been engaged in the CAF Confederation Cup in the last two weeks and finally got their first win in their group after edging Desportivo Lunda-Sul 1-0 thanks to Devin Titus on Sunday in Angola.
Stellies will have fond memories as they return to the domestic league, after they became the first side to beat Pirates 1-0 in their previous Premiership outing.
The Western Cape side will also be missing defender Ismael Toure due to suspension
