Junior Khanye is confident of a win for Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates and has predicted a surprising score, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.
Amakhosi and the Buccaneers are expected to play in front of a sold-out crowd at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the tickets have been selling fast this week.
With Chiefs coming from a morale-boosting 3-2 victory over Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday, Khanye is confident that Cavin Johnson's side can make it two in a row with Bucs clash.
The former midfielder has suggested a few areas in the team that he thinks Johnson can work on to further improve Amakhosi for the coming games though he says he is pleased with the work that has been done by the former Al Ahly assistant coach so far.
The Good
"I have always been a fan of coach Cavin Johnson as everybody knows by now. He is the most underrated coach but one of the best in the country based on football knowledge. I have said a lot about his understanding of South African players and I am just happy that people will now see for themselves what I have been talking about all along now that he is coaching one of the big clubs in the league. There is a lot of work that still need to be done at Chiefs but there's been a lot of improvement in the team under coach Johnson in a short space of time. For example, the team is now keeping position in a commendable way and with the purpose of creating good scoring chances. The third goal against Cape Town Spurs is an example of good combinations with the intention of creating goals. When was the last time you saw Chiefs playing with a number 10? I like the way Chiefs played and won against Spurs and it makes one happy. Going into the Soweto derby on the weekend, Chiefs is going to win, and I am confident about it. The game will end 2-1 to Chiefs," said Khanye.
The Bad
"It's only a few areas that I think the coach still needs to work on at Chiefs and especially in defence as I do not think that it is right to play with two centre-backs. I am still concerned about the combination of (Thatayaone) Ditlhokwe and Given Msimango as they don't seem to be combining well and tend to be beaten by simple balls. But I am confident that Chiefs will win on Saturday because Pirates have not been convincing, and they have been playing a lot of draws. I don't think the Pirates coach (Jose Riveiro) understands his players and he seem to be struggling to put together right combinations. Even in the MTN8 final against Sundowns, Pirates didn't deserve to win as Sundowns had more chances to score and I believe that the referee robbed Sundowns on the day," he said.
The Ugly
"I know that for some time, Chiefs have not been convincing but the team is coming together under Johnson and Pirates will lose. Pirates lost to Spurs last week and were beaten by Chiefs last night and for me that goes back to the point I am making about the Pirates coach appearing not to be understanding his players. That's a game he should have won. Cavin just needs to work on the concentration levels of his players because that almost cost them against Spurs but Chiefs will beat Pirates 2-1 and you can write that down," concluded Khanye.
