SuperSport United midfielder Grant Margeman has given his thoughts on the loan rule which exempts him from playing against parent club Mamelodi Sundowns this Friday.
Margeman was signed on a two-year loan deal by SuperSport, but the agreement states that the former Ajax Cape Town player cannot feature against Sundowns. He had to watch from the sidelines while Sundowns registered a 2-0 victory over SuperSport in the MTN8 over the weekend and will have to sit out again when they take on the reigning champions in the DStv Premiership at Lucas Moripe Stadium this Friday.
Not having Margeman in the middle of the park is a big loss for Matsatsantsa, considering he has won two man of the match awards this season. He has settled in quite well since making the move, but the club will have to try to get the job done without him on the pitch on Friday.
The midfielder gave his thoughts on the loan rule, saying he had no choice but to accept it.
"As a player, it's not something nice because you always want to play against the best team in the league, but that's how it is in football. I am still part of the Mamelodi Sundowns set-up, so the agreement is there and I had to accept it. But I think the boys know what to expect after the cup game. It's going to demand a lot of hard work and mental strength. I think the team will be better prepared going into this game, to know what they will throw at us and how we can hurt them," Margeman told the Siya crew.
