The 2019/20 Premier League campaign was the inaugural season of VAR being used. The groundbreaking technology was brought in to assist referees, but since then, matters have got far worse than ever predicted.
It seems as though, in the current game, refs are relying on VAR and not using it as an extra aid. Multiple decisions have been scrutinised, with none more chaotic than a goal award for Newcastle United against Arsenal last weekend, that saw the Gunners drop all three points.
Mikel Arteta publicly criticised the decision and since then, Arsenal have decided to take further action.
