Why Messi To Miami Makes Sense!

Why Messi To Miami Makes Sense!

Questions about Lionel Messi's future are final answered; but did the little Argentine make the right choice?  Catch the debate by clicking on the podcast player below!

In what has already been a transfer window of historic proportions, Lionel Messi has booked his flight and signed for Inter Miami. The little Argentine will most likely be doing a team, at the bottom of their respective table, and will be a part of a club run by former Manchester United and Real Madrid icon, David Beckham. 'Leo' has opened up about this transfer, amidst rumours of his emphatic return to Barcelona. "I am protecting my family, and taking us all out of the spotlight." After 18 years in European football, one can understand why the world-cup winner has taken this decision and ultimately, what else is there for him to do in Europe. He has won every trophy and competition he has played, including the recent COPA America, and of course the coveted 2022 FIFA World Cup. A transfer that took the world by surprise has ultimately been a personal gain for Messi.

Karim Benzema has put pen to paper and signed with current Saudi ProLeague Champions, Al Ittihad. The Frenchman announced his exit from Real Madrid before los blanks took the pitch on the final match day of the 2022/23 La Liga season. After 14 years with the Spanish giants, Benzema has his sights on a new challenge. Benzema of course will now be a direct rival of former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Saudi Pro League is doing everything it can to prove to the world that it can host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and by pouring millions of Euros into improving their league, infrastructure, and the quality of the game, they just might have a point.

In the biggest match of the season, Manchester City is 90 minutes away from becoming only the second British football team to claim ''treble rights.' The citizens face off against an extremely tough opponent in Inter Milan on Saturday 10 June, in the UEFA Champions League Final. The Blue half of Manchester will be eager to not only claim the club's first-ever UCL trophy but to also make history by joining Manchester United. Although this game is not going to be a walk in the park, City is the clear favourite; but could we see the upset of the decade?

On the latest episode of the International News desk, former Mamelodi sundowns and Sheffield Wednesday goalie Sean Roberts takes on Soccer Laduma International News Correspondent Kurt Buckerfield as they speak about the recent transfer rumours and the confirmed transfers relating to Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema. The gents also dive into the UEFA Champions League Final and discuss the matchup between Manchester City and Inter Milan.
