Why do PSL teams struggle in CAF Competitions? Find out what Mzansi thinks, by listening in the podcast player below!
The CAF Champions League is the most coveted football trophy on African soil, yet in the same breath, it is the most elusive to South African teams. For far too long, Southern Africa has barely had a say in this competition since Mamelodi Sundowns claimed the silverware way back in the 2015/2016 season. Only Kaizer Chiefs have come close since then when Gavin Hunt took the glamour boys to the final in 2021.
Is the CAF Champions League too much to ask of the players, coaches, and teams from Southern Africa? Perhaps the traveling is playing a big role, or even the quality of the pitches. One thing we know for sure, is to be the best, you have to beat the best and given the expectation that this competition expects, to go all the way and win the cup; you have to dig deep, be consistent, and focus on your strengths.
On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi reacts to Morgan Mammila being re-appointed as head coach of Chippa United. They also speak on Steve Komphela turning Swallows around. The fans break down the poor performance shown by South African teams in the CAF Champions League.
