Highly-rated midfielder Luciano Van Heerden is understood to have sealed a two-year deal with topflight returnees Polokwane City, the Siya crew has been informed.
According to sources, the midfielder has penned a deal with Rise and Shine as they look to bolster their squad, having sealed automatic promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship. It is believed a number of clubs had their eye on his signature, although it was Polokwane City who won the race.
The 28-year-old nicknamed 'Iniesta' made 23 appearances for Baroka FC last season, scoring two goals. He also doubled up as club captain in the absence of Junior Gebhardt. Van Heerden, who is a development product of Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits, is understood to be a direct replacement for Mpho Makola, who has reportedly been let go.
