As reported by the Siya crew, Al Ahly have no intention of entertaining talks of a Premier League return for Tau, who finished as the club's top goal scorer in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.
Rather, the club are keen to offer the 29-year-old a new four-year contract, with his current deal set to expire in June 2024.
According to Egyptian publication Cairo24, the Red Eagles and Tau's representative Mmatsatsi Sefalafala are set to meet in Egypt in the coming days over a new deal.
The publication reports that Sefalafala is proposing a $1.5m (±R26.8 million) per-season salary for Tau, roughly R2.2 million a-month, which is an increase of around $400 000 (±R7.1m) from his current package, which stands at a reported $1.1m (±R19.6 million).
However, it is understood that the Egyptian giants are offering a package of around $1.35m (±R24.1 million) with a $50 000 (±R894k) annual increase over the next four years.
It now remains to be seen if the parties can reach common ground over a new contract, with the player keen to remain in Egypt according to the publication.
